Beginner’s Yoga

In this 7-week beginner yoga class, participants will explore fundamental postures, breathing techniques, and mindfulness practices. Each week will build on the last, starting with an introduction to basic asanas like Mountain Pose and Downward Dog, and gradually incorporating more variations and sequences. Classes will focus on alignment, body awareness, and the importance of breath, with guided meditations and relaxation techniques added to enhance mental focus and relaxation. By the end of the course, students will have developed a foundational understanding of yoga practice and its benefits for both body and mind.

  • You need a yoga mat for comfort and grip, comfortable clothing that allows for movement, and optionally, props like blocks, straps, or a bolster for support. A water bottle to stay hydrated and a towel can also be helpful, especially in more intense classes.

  • Modify poses as needed and listen to your body; yoga is about personal practice, not perfection.

  • No, you do not need to be flexible to start yoga. Yoga is about progress and personal growth, and beginners of all flexibility levels can benefit from its practice. The emphasis is on developing strength, balance, and body awareness, which can improve flexibility over time.

  • Start by setting a specific time each day dedicated to your practice, whether it’s early morning or before bed. You can also integrate yoga stretches into breaks throughout the day, such as during work hours or after long periods of sitting. Consistency is key, so find a rhythm that works for your lifestyle.

  • Before yoga, it's best to consume a light snack that provides energy, such as a banana, yogurt, or a small smoothie about 30-60 minutes prior to your session.
